Wenn jemand einen Stromschlag erleidet oder der Reststrom des Stromkreises den festgelegten Wert \u00fcberschreitet, kann der Fehlerstrom-Schutzschalter die Stromversorgung innerhalb von 0,1 s automatisch unterbrechen, um das Ger\u00e4t vor dem durch den Reststrom verursachten Fehler zu sch\u00fctzen. Mit dieser Funktion kann der Fehlerstrom-Schutzschalter den Stromkreis vor \u00dcberlastung und Kurzschluss sch\u00fctzen oder f\u00fcr die unregelm\u00e4\u00dfige Umschaltung des Stromkreises unter normalen Bedingungen verwendet werden.
